Optional Service Upgrade for Throttle Actuation:
A few AeroCarb owners have experienced a sticky throttle while their engines are running. To date, these have been isolated to our larger-throat carbs and are due to a number of installation variables. These include the type of throttle cable used, the method of attachment, and the orientation of the carb.

We recently tested two design improvements on the AeroCarb that will eliminate this stickiness. One is the addition of a Delrin gasket between the slide and carb body. Another is a new cable mount block, which clamps the throttle cable in place, instead of retaining it with a screw. The carb body is flipped, and a small retaining bracket is then added to provide a mounting point for the mixture control. These upgrades are optional and can be made to your Aero-Carb if it is returned to our factory. If you choose to have these upgrades made to your carb, we would like to get a picture of your throttle cable installation. The total cost of these upgrades is USD$50 plus return shipping.

6.23.03 ACV-SB-062303 Needle Tolerence Check:
All Aero Carb needles must immediately be checked for proper sizing. They should measure between 0.123" and 0.125" in diameter. If you discover any of your needles are larger than this, the needle must either be polished until the proper diameter is achieved or returned for replacement at no charge. Note: All Aero Carbs have Needle Orifices reamed to 0.127" The following image is supplied for your reference:

8.08.02 ACV-PRN-080802 Aluminum Slide Chamfer:
A few "sticky-throttle" have been reported from those that have upgraded to the new Aluminum Slide (ACV-CXX-03). After a thorough investigation, we found that the sharp edge of the Aluminum Slides could "dig" into the very slight radius in the Carb Body. This interference causes the throttle motion to feel very sticky, especially in high-suction engine installations like the 3300 Jabiru.
The simple fix is to file a 1/8" chamfer into the engine-side edges of your slide. We recommend that this chamfer be added to all Aero-Carb Slides as extensive testing has yielded a significant reduction to the throttle forces required to move the slide.

Aluminum Slide Upgrade:
All Aero-Carbs have been upgraded with a Teflon-coated Aluminum Slide. This new slide increases the long-term durability of the Aero-Carb and also allows us to maintain tighter design tolerances. The teflon coating maintains the "ice-resistant" advantages, along with the smooth throttle motion.
The new slide is available to all current Aero-Carb owners for $25 plus shipping. The new slides will be available for shipment starting on May 10, 2002. There is no need to return your current Delrin Slide.

To order, call at 920.231.8297 or send us an e-mail at: techsupport@aeroconversions.com with your serial number, current mailing address, and method of payment and weÕll get it out to you right away.

3.01.02 ACV-SB-030102 Delrin Slide Tolerence Check:
Check clearance between Delrin Slide (ACV-CXX-03) and the side of the Carb Body (ACV-CXX-01) with a feeler gauge. The Gap Must be between 0.006-0.010 inches on each side. If gap is under 0.006 inches, remove slide from Carb Body and sand off delrin material using a flat piece of 100-150 Grit sandpaper. When the carb is subjected to high heat, the Delrin Slide could expand and jam, rendering the carb in-operable. The following images are supplied for your reference:
